The Council of the European Union is currently considering a proposal for the protection of animals at the time of killing. This legislation provides an historic opportunity to finally give the 25 million animals kept on fur factory farms in the EU the protection they deserve, at least at the time at which their lives end.

As long as factory fur farming continues to be legal in many EU Member States, there is no reason why these animals should not be afforded the same degree of protection as the other mammals covered by the proposed Regulation.

I hope that you will join me in encouraging your Agriculture Minister to take action and amend the proposal to protect the welfare of animals on fur farms at the time of killing. But hurry! We expect the ministers to vote on this issue before the end of June!

Il Consiglio dell’Unione europea sta attualmente esaminando una proposta per la protezione degli animali al momento dell’uccisione. La normativa prevede un ‘occasione storica per dare finalmente ai 25 milioni di animali che sono detenuti nelle  aziende fabbrica di pellicce dell’Unione europea la tutela che meritano, almeno per il momento in cui la loro vita fine.

Finché la fabbrica di pellicce  continua ad essere legale in molti Stati membri dell’Unione europea, non vi è alcun motivo per cui questi animali non devono avere lo stesso grado di protezione, come gli altri mammiferi oggetto della proposta di regolamento.

Spero che vi unirete a noi nel favorire il vostro ministro ad intervenire e modificare la proposta per tutelare il benessere degli animali da pelliccia , al momento dell’uccisione. Ma in fretta! Ci aspettiamo che i ministri votino sulla questione entro la fine del mese di giugno!
